Meet the apprentices helping to shape the future of Morgan

6 February 2023

In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, which runs between 6 – 13 February in the UK, we are introducing some of the incredible Morgan apprentices who are helping to shape the future of Morgan. Working across the entire business, apprentices have been key to the long term success of Morgan for decades. Today, the apprentices of Morgan are provided with the opportunity to learn valuable skills, both in craft disciplines, as well as within the wider business.

The company is proud to champion its apprentices and their work through the following videos and written bios. Meet Oliver, Stef, Inigo, Hamish, Lucy, Nathan, and Ivan.

Name: Oliver Lees
Job Title: Wood Shop Apprentice

“I’ve always been a hands-on person, so an apprenticeship where I can learn in a real work environment and earn money at the same time was the perfect choice for me. That’s why I was thrilled to complete my apprenticeship at Morgan, a company with a strong reputation for developing young people. My favourite part of the apprenticeship programme is getting to learn from some of the most experience craftspeople and receiving fantastic support from the company. My goal is to establish myself in the wood shop and then see where I can go from there. I have a passion for cars, I own a 1999 Alfa Romeo GTV V6 and love taking it to car events.”

Name: Stefani Webb
Job Title: Accounts Apprentice

“I’m a big believer in learning by doing and that’s why I decided to go for an apprenticeship instead of college. I found that I pick up skills much easier when I’m using them, so an apprenticeship seemed like the perfect fit for me. When I got offered an interview with Morgan, I was over the moon! I loved the idea of being at a smaller company where I could get more individual attention and help build my skills.

What I love most about my apprenticeship is just how much I’m learning every day, both in accounting and in communicating and presenting my ideas. I’m so excited to keep learning and hope to complete my level 3 and 4 accounting apprenticeships, just like some of my colleagues. I was drawn to accounting because I love numbers and finding patterns in them.

Since starting my apprenticeship, my confidence has grown so much! So, if you’re thinking about an apprenticeship, my advice would be to keep trying, apply for everything you see, and don’t give up!”

Name: Inigo Turner

Job Title: Service Department Apprentice

“I’m a hands-on person and that’s why I chose an apprenticeship as the perfect way to start my career. The appeal is that I am able to learn whilst working and earn money at the same time. Morgan has always been my dream company and I’m lucky enough to have completed my apprenticeship here. What I love most about working here is the friendly atmosphere and being able to work on the cars I’ve admired since I was a child. My future aspirations are to stay at Morgan and work my way up through the company. I have a huge passion for vehicle mechanics and in my spare time, I love to tinker with engines and cars.”

Name: Hamish Cameron-Eveleigh
Job Title:  Sheet Metal Apprentice

“I’ve always been drawn to hands-on work, which is why I chose an apprenticeship to kickstart my career. Growing up around Morgan cars only fuelled my passion for the industry, and I jumped at the opportunity to complete my apprenticeship at the company. I love that I get to work hands-on and learn on the job, and my ultimate goal is to become a team leader or even run my own workshop someday. You can find me racing cars at weekends.”

Name: Lucy Morris
Job Title: Accounts Department Apprentice

“I chose an apprenticeship because I wanted to learn and earn at the same time. I was attracted to the idea of building my knowledge in accountancy and developing business skills and relationships. I’m currently completing my apprenticeship at Morgan, an iconic local business in Malvern. I appreciate the support I receive from my colleagues and the opportunity to see different aspects of accountancy. My future plans include continuing my studies with ACCA and becoming a fully qualified accountant at Morgan. I have Marfan syndrome, but it doesn’t stop me from pursuing my passions. My advice to someone looking to do an apprenticeship is to definitely consider it if university isn’t the right fit. You’ll gain valuable knowledge and skills through both studies and work, and earn while you learn.”

Name: Nathan Quinn
Job Title: Service Department Apprentice

“I’m currently in the third year of my Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) course at Heart of Worcestershire College. I decided to follow the apprenticeship route because I found that learning on the job and getting additional training works best for me. I love getting hands-on experience and repetition in learning. I chose to complete my apprenticeship at Morgan because of its reputation for high-level craftsmanship and the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues. What I love most about my apprenticeship is that I get to work on hand-built sports cars and learn something new every day. My future aspirations include continuing with my apprenticeship, finishing college, and growing in my career as a mechanic. When I’m not working, you can find me helping friends work on their cars, doing bodywork repairs, service work, and modifications. Basically, I love cars and I’m always at meets, events, and going on drives with friends. Cars are my biggest passion.”

Name: Ivan Wade
Job Title: Quality Department Apprentice

“I was attracted to the idea of an apprenticeship because of the opportunity to earn while gaining valuable work experience and working towards a qualification. I am currently completing my apprenticeship at Morgan, a world-renowned brand that carries a lot of prestige. I appreciate the unique opportunities that my apprenticeship presents me with, such as visiting dealerships. My future aspirations include staying within the automotive industry and potentially exploring opportunities to work abroad. In my free time, I enjoy working on and riding my motorcycle.”

Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) Explained

PERSONAL CONTRACT PURCHASE (PCP) EXPLAINED

Your chosen contract term and mileage will be used to calculate the Guaranteed Minimum Future Value (GMFV) of your vehicle at the end of your contract term and provide you with an Optional Final Payment amount. The GMFV determines that at the end of your agreement your vehicle will have a value at least  equal to the GMFV.

Your deposit amount is deducted from the price of your Morgan, you make regular payments based on the amount of credit plus the interest. The interest is calculated on the vehicle price less the deposit.

At the end At the end of the agreement, you just have to choose from one of the following options:

  1. Renew your Morgan – if you settle your existing finance agreement you are free to part exchange the vehicle for a new Morgan. Please note, any new finance agreements are subject to status.
  2. Retain your Morgan – to keep your current Morgan at the end of the agreement, you only need pay the optional final payment.
  3. Return your Morgan – you can return the vehicle and do not pay the Optional Final Payment. If the vehicle has exceeded the maximum agreed mileage a charge for excess mileage will apply. As long as the vehicle is in good condition and has not exceeded the maximum agreed mileage you will have nothing further to pay.

KEY FEATURES

  • Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) may be right for you if you would like to keep monthly payments as low as possible
  • With PCP, you can decide how much deposit to pay up front (subject to a minimum)
  • PCP gives you clear options at the end of the agreement, this gives flexibility
  • The Guaranteed Minimum Future Value (GMFV) is set for your vehicle as part of PCP, this protects you against any unexpected reduction in the used car market
  • PCP could allow you to drive a new Morgan after your agreement by entering a new PCP agreement on the latest model

Please note:

  • You will not own the vehicle until all of the payments and interest have been paid. After that, you will own the vehicle outright
  • You must have fully comprehensive insurance for the duration of the agreement
  • Credit is subject to status and is only available to UK residents aged 18 and over
