01 October: Marking 75 years of timeless design, joyful driving and coachbuilding excellence

For 75 years, Plus Four has turned journeys into enduring memories for countless owners. Beloved for its timeless design, engaging drive and coachbuilding excellence, each bespoke Plus Four has always been a reprieve from the everyday – an escape from the mundane into time well spent.
Today’s Plus Four remains the purest expression of a Morgan sports car. Its timeless silhouette and hand-built construction continue at our historic Malvern Link home. Every Plus Four – known as Plus 4 prior to 2020 – to roll off the line at Pickersleigh Road is as individual as its owner thanks to an almost limitless palette of options.
A winning formula
When Plus 4 was unveiled in 1950, it introduced a higher-powered engine to Morgan’s successful line-up. First launched with as a ‘flat-rad’, by 1954 the Plus 4 had evolved into the timeless design still produced today, with its familiar sweeping wings, hand-louvred bonnet and folding soft-top. Motorsport success followed, most notably a class win at the 1962 24 Hours of Le Mans for the Plus 4 SuperSports registered as “TOK 258”, cementing the car’s sporting credentials.
Despite 75 years of continual evolution, the winning formula has never wavered. The Plus Four has been the catalyst for thousands of owners’ most enduring memories – time well spent in a car that is as welcoming as it is engaging. Its timeless appeal rests on a simple, irresistible trio: the purity of open-top motoring, the immediacy of true driver enjoyment, and a characterful design that invites connection – underpinned by traditional coachbuilding and handcrafted detail that give every car its own bespoke character.
Plus Four today
The latest Plus Four stays true to its roots while embracing appropriate technology. Since 2020 it has featured the CX-Generation bonded aluminium platform and a BMW 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, bringing greater refinement, performance and precision. Successive updates in 2022, 2023 and 2025 introduced subtle enhancements including a Sennheiser audio system, selectable Sport/Sport+ modes and ESC, while preserving the car’s inherently analogue feel.
An almost limitless palette of colourways and options, combined with its coachbuilt production, ensures every Plus Four is as individual as its owner. This expression of individuality weaves each bespoke car into its owner’s story, becoming an enduring companion over many years of ownership.
To open the anniversary, the next 75 Plus Four commissions will be truly bespoke: any exterior paint, any interior leather, any carpet or hood and any wing beading. Each car features a discreet 75-year rear badge and UK pricing from £75,000 (incl. VAT). Orders are open now for delivery in time for summer 2026.
29 September: Plus Four at 75

The Morgan Plus Four, one of the world’s longest established model names, was revealed 75 years ago today in The Autocar, ahead of its Earl’s Court debut on 27 October 1950. Over its 75 years in continuous production, Plus Four has become synonymous with lightweight, engaging driving and a delicate balance of modern engineering and time-honoured coachbuilding techniques.
To mark the anniversary, Autocar’s Matt Prior looks back at Plus Four’s gradual, but significant evolution over the last 75 years.
